Life Sentence in Norway Revisited
In one of my previous posts I discussed the implications of Norway’s maximum life sentence (21 years). It should be noted that Norwegian parliament is now trying to pass a bill to extend that to 30 years for acts of terror. However, it will not apply to Anders Behring Breivik’s massacre trial.
As an update to my previous post, i still find this form of punishment unreasonable and difficult to accept. Considering Anders is 32 years old, the maximum he will serve is 21 (the maximum sentence) + 5 (5 extra years if still considered a threat to society). For the single handed planned and deliberate murder of 93 people, Anders will be released from prison at 58.
the funny thing about this joke is, all of these things can be done with a phone these days.
